Sustainability at ORION

Everyone is talking about the topic of sustainability. As a responsible family company in Flensburg, ORION has been fulfilling numerous social and economic aspects of sustainability for years. In order to also be ecologically sustainable, we are working on producing products and packaging that can be recycled. This means that our electrical items are properly registered so that they can be handed over to the municipal utilities and recycled.

Our Packaging

  • The materials for our packaging can be easily separated and can be respectively recycled. Furthermore, ORION has participated in the dual system “The Green Dot” from the start and has thus contributed to saving a large amount of CO2.

  • Our team is working continually on the development of the packaging for products and is constantly conversing with the manufacturers. New, resource-efficient materials are tested, in order to reduce the need for plastic even further.

  • Renewable resources: In october 2019 we have brought the “Just Glide Bio” onto the market. It is in a tube that is made out of polyethylene – it’s based on sugar cane which means that the packaging is 100% recyclable.

Many of our drug store items are already 100% vegan. We want to extend this to our other products as well.

Sustainability in the Company

  • Environmentally-friendly Delivery
    Our cardboard boxes are completely recyclable – sealed with potato starch instead of clips. B2C customers receive their packages CO2 neutral with DHL. For this reason, ORION has received the Go Green certificate for many years now.

  • Supporting Social Projects
    Besides protecting the environment, thoughtful social interaction with other people is also important to us. This is why we support different social projects in the region every year and are pleased to be able to contribute to the great work.

  • The ORION E-Bikes
    ORION gives employees the option of leasing a company bike for an environmentally-friendly way to get to work. This means that every employee has an additional chance to do their bit every day.
